Movie Review: Crocodile Dundee 1 and 2

Paul Hogan plays a manly character who lives off the land in the Australian outback. He takes a lady reporter into the bush and shows her where he fought a giant crock. Linda Kozlowski, playing the reporter, invites him to New York to show him her city world.

The country versus city contrasts made me laugh. We're never really sure if the Aussie man is the real deal or it's all a put on. In the big city he walks around and meets friends rather easily. With the girl, he's accosted by a man with a knife and he looks at the small blade saying "that's not a knife." He pulls out his own huge blade and says "now that, that's a knife." The wide eyed mugger turns and runs.

Pop some popcorn and plop down for a couple hours of original characters and belly laughing. Myrtle Point is supposed to have a DVD but apparently someone took it. oh well grab the tape from either there or Dora.

It stars the same pair only features more of the outback and very little of New York. It's ok, I just didn't think much of the plot. Some gangsters try and kill his lady friend and he takes her to hide her to the Australian countryside where he understands all the rules.

Where the first one explored the concept of the characters, this one traveled in a familiar movie rut. It's really easy to show drama when bad guys are shooting at you. I'd like to learn new things, see some more tales of the country and its native people or animals.

Pick up a copy of the DVD in Myrtle Point and the VHS in Coos Bay.

This film was only Watchable.

I have not seen the third film, Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. When I do, I'll write a review. Powers has the VHS tape if you want to view it and tell me what you thought. I'll amend this with someone else's review.
