A couple of Watchables about Dogs

John Lithgow narrates an episode of Nova outlining the evolution of dogs from wolves. The PBS show examines how over time, wolves who were tame got closer and closer to people through foraging their trash piles. Researchers found markers for tameness in the canine DNA. Quite interesting, if you like that sort of thing.

Amazon: NOVA: Dogs and More Dogs

I do really like Millan's methods for training dogs. Really he trains people. What I don't like are some of his sexist attitudes toward women. He gets out of it when he comes across a woman who learns his technique, but he acts like a bit of a jerk if the lady doesn't get him quickly.

It gets a bit repetitive, so if you watch full season, mix some other program in between every few shows. You'll learn a lot about dog and people interaction. Though with anything, it's much easier to see than to do.

Library: Full season one in Coos Bay, if you want to just get a taste try the part DVD in Bandon.
