Movie Review: Flags of Our Fathers

Clint Eastwood's directing style and choice of subject tends toward gritty reality. Much of the film appears black and white as I guess a statement on the muddied plot and memories of the men.

It tells the story of the guys who raised the flag in the famous photo on Iwo Jima. They did not fair well as publicity icons, but their story helped inspire Americans to buy bonds. This film theaches that all politics is perception.

I think it's an important lesson to see, but I just wonder if we really need more war movies. I never want to see this film again. I hope Clint will forgive me.

Bandon, Dora, Coos Bay and Myrtle Point libraries all have a copy of this film.
