Movie Review: Dog List

These are all relationship dramas, beyond that they have little in common.

Meryl Streep has an amazing ability to transform herself into just about anyone and in this role she is almost unrecognizable as the bored and lonely housewife Francesca. Possibly different casting for the Clint Eastwood rule may have saved the film. His wooden style and rugged looks detract in this context.

Playboy Don Johnston (Bill Murray) gets a letter from one of the many women from his past telling him he has a 20 year old son. When he tells his friend Winston this, the neighbor sets out to find the woman who sent the note. All this film showed me was Johnston is a scoundrel and cad who broke hearts right and left. I guess maybe it's supposed to be funny, but I could care less what happens to him.

It's good in life to help people, and Clive Owen plays a doctor trying to do that, but it REALLY falls short when we see him move around the world. That's just plain stupid. Most aid workers pick a problem and spend their lives working on it. A rich socialite played by Angelina Jolie, falls for the do-gooder doctor and chases him around the world. It fails on the social commentary, on the love story and on the general movie going experience.

Egads this movie stunk. Parker Posey plays a woman who just keeps throwing herself at men hoping that they'll stick together. I squirmed through most of this, wishing she had a therapist to talk to.
