Movie Review: Jaws

Some friends and I were talking about sharks today and I just got the urge to review this film. I saw it as a child when it first came out. It's silly now, but I remember being afraid of swimming in the pool. Thankfully that fear has subsided, but man is this a scary flick.

A huge shark terrorizes a small tourist town beach. A biologist, a sheriff and a fisherman set out to find and kill the beast. It turns out to be way bigger than they expect and with amazing understatement, they realize "We're going to need a bigger boat."

Roy Scheider plays police chief Brody who hooks up with marine biology guy Richard Dreyfuss and fisherman Quinn played by Robert Shaw. These men make you feel they're really fighting a bad ass killer shark.

Just for the emotionally driven action, I'm gonna call this a gem. Since it's an old film, practically every library has a VHS copy. These include: Powers, Lakeside, Coos Bay and possibly Bandon. (the code is weird on that copy) North Bend has the only DVD copy.
