I think I can start posting again!

I will post a review tomorrow, I just wanted to let everyone know I am half back. The posts will come on the weekends and maybe one or two during the week. I need to get my library card renewed so I can check out new stuff too.

Thanks for your patience while my husband and I started our business. Things are going pretty well over there. I don't have internet though. That would be a bit easier if I did.

Still Suuuuper Busy

Hey, sorry for not posting any movie reviews yet this year. I expected things to calm down by now. Yeah right famous last words!

Please feel free to read through the reviews, there are over 600 to choose from and 200 good or gem selections. I'm sure you can find something to watch.

Kudos to Coos County Library System for letting you hold any movie from any branch. Also they extended the check out to a week. No more scrambling to get a film back to Coos Bay or North Bend.

Cutting Back

I was soooo tired last night I went to bed at 7pm and didn't get up until 11: 30 and then was only up a short time.

My husband and I started a business and it's going fine, just going to take a short break from the blog for December 2009. I"ll post when I get the chance, but it wont be 5 days a week this month. Hopefully I can get some rhythm down and get back soon.

In the mean time, please read through my lists of Gem and Good films. I'm sure you'll find something you like. Happy Holidays for all those who celebrate.

Busy Blogger

I'm one busy blogger and haven't had a chance to watch any films this last week. Hopefully I'l have time this weekend to bang out a bunch and get back on track. Happy Holidays everybody!

Blog Blues

Well, not really. I live a pretty positive happy life and I keep the blues away on purpose. I spent a lot of my life being unhappy and now I just refuse to be that way without a darn good reason.

I've been reading a book on marketing and the writer, Seth Godin, talks about doing something "remarkable" so that your customers tell their friends about what your business is doing. I thought, I'm not remarkable. Well, *I* am, but the blog isn't. That's OK, honest. I just thought, hmm what can I do to change that. How could I possibly make writing this thing something you want to tell your friends to read.

Tons of folks write reviews. I thought maybe it would be a fun niche to focus on the library. I STILL love it, suprising considering I tend to be flakey and quit doing things after a while.

It's still just so much fun popping a film in and finding something different and going WOW. So I keep getting the DVDs and keep picking through the dogs in order to celebrate the gems.

I plan to stretching myself to write more remarkable posts. I realized that I can do that with bad as well as good ones. Ok, so now I have a solid beat the blog blues plan. Feel free to comment on posts. I want to hear from you.

I'll try and hit a double post tomorrow. I just wanted to share something different today.

Some Thoughts

I decided to let today's review shine. I can't decide among the dogs I got on my list.

I was thinking about the library and its site. There's a steering committee that seems to have disappeared from use. No one monitors it and I'm the last post back from April. But there it sits, prominently on the front page of the library site.

I realize I'm narrowly focussed on the DVDs but the whole system has so many interesting things going on. I've wanted to read a book and they did or did not have it so I would request it. Found out the other day you can "hold" magazines. Just the old stuff, but that's pretty cool.

I'm still trying to get them to fix the Ed Wood Box Set. So someone can place a hold on any of the films in the collection. I'd also like them to allow patrons to hold older DVDs only in Coos Bay and North Bend. I mean a working person in Dora might like to see Children of a Lesser God, but as it stands, it's only in Coos Bay. I suppose it would make more work, they'd have to have two categories. One for new DVDs one for old.

I have an idea for doing flyers and permission to put them up in Coos Bay. Though I should check again. We got a new printer so I have a good chance to actually get it done.

Unreview Nite

I know I should write and post a nice gem right now, but this ain't gonna happen. I sure think it would be fun to get some other people involved in this blog. I did realize it will take 10 years to review them all at the pace I have. I'd like to cut that down to five.

My third anniversary is tomorrow. Normally I wouldn't bring this up except that we were married in the science fiction section of the Powers Library. We don't live in powers, we just picked a judge that had the right to marry people there. It was a spur of the moment thing.

We talked about doing it some time and I heard people malign the date of 6/6/06 with delaying the birth of children and the like. I wanted to capture the date as a positive memory. We started making plans.

The judge didn't want to bother the person who had the key to the courthouse so we went inside the library and got hitched. I had a bad cold, but I didn't care. We had a couple friends with us and since it was his first marriage ceremony, the judge's dad took pictures.

Yay Powers Library.

Irony

So I didn't post for a week because we had to rush down to bury my husband's dad. What incredible foreshadowing in the last review posted. Sadly, we had no quirky roadtrip/memorial experiences. That is not to say it was a solemn event. We reminded each other of our memories of Frank with humor and relief that he no longer lives trapped in a body that didn't serve him well. He had Parkinson's disease.

I watched a gem the other day from the writer/director of one of my fav films called The Station Agent. Sadly, not in the library collection. This film, The Visitor, just happened to be on the new shelf for Murry to find. What is this guy's thing for "the" titles? ;)

Hey, while I'm posting, I wanted to make a couple comments about the Library and this blog. I notice how crowded the library is lately. I guess the economy is forcing people to find free stuff to do. Whenever I talk to some internet folks, I hear stories about how bad their libraries are. We should be happy and celebrate how great Coos County treats us.

Ok, now a few words about he blog. I LOVE comments. Please feel free to comment about any film or let me know if anything is in error. I'm just one person and another set of eyes always helps. Plus, in case I haven't mentioned it lately, I don't see well so sometimes i'll miss something visually.

I include links for both Amazon and Internet Movie Database in every new post. Truly, if you want to buy a film, please feel free to use the link. Though my main purpose is all the interesting data and comments Amazon adds. I have a handful of films I'd like to get for the library. Say for instance The Station Agent. I should make a list and if anyone has copies, they could send them to me and we could donate them for everyone to enjoy.

Writing a post requires me to have some mental energy to organize it. I will have to do a whole bunch to make up for my distracted couple of weeks. It's alright. I have a huge list and as of right now, two gem films.

Taking a little rest Back Soon

I'm taking a little rest from blogging this week. I may be back later in the week, but I'm not posting beyond this post on Monday or Tuesday for sure.I'm just getting a head start on spring cleaning and that includes the computers.

Last week got a bunch of watchables off the books, now I'm going to pare down the soso list. I'll start tomorrow.

Blog Monday

Tuesday through Friday, I'll post all watchable films. I need to bring the huge list down to a manageable size.

I haven't asked this lately, I'm still looking for someone to write a few reviews on the weekends. Foreign films would be best, but anything that you want to write about would suit me fine. Leave a comment and let me know. The films have to be available from the Coos County Library System DVD collection. Your opinion is up to you.

Also, feel free to comment on my reviews, even if you disagree. I'm willing to post interesting points of view in the main blog.

I do not do educational or informational DVDs for children. If you want to review those, I'd be happy to include them.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Okay! I'm not completely back but sort of. My laptop still has problems and we got a new fan on order. I still watched a ton of films over the last several days, but I just flaked on the posting.

For a while I was using my man thing's PC and it just didn't work for my posting style. I had to tinker and configure and it never worked "right." I'm glad to have the laptop to use, even tho the fan growls and grinds and could just give up at any second.

I'll post a movie review, tomorrow, Tuesday January 5th. I'll get the data all ready so it will be easy to do first day back and all. I'll also fill in the data I missed on previous postings. Thanks for your patience. Yeah, like you had a choice heh.

Blog blog what is BLOG

My writing projects are giving me grief at the moment. My laptop went in to have a cooling fan repaired. I'm using one of the Murry's computers and it bugs me. Oh well. I'll sort it out. I am gonna be inconsistent for posting til I sort out life. With over 400 reviews thus far, I'm sure you can find something to tickle your fancy.

I'm incredibly sorry for flaking the last two days. I need a little break and I should have said before I just quit posting. I think I will just take the rest of this week off and collect my thoughts.
